Company Milestones

The Knot was founded in 1996 by four good friends, two of whom had barely survived planning their own wedding due to the lack of local information and real-world resources available. With firsthand experience, a unique vision, and funding from America Online, they set out to reinvent the way couples plan their weddings -- and life’s most important celebrations. The Knot quickly became the most popular online wedding resource and a highly successful offline brand, reaching millions of brides, grooms, and gift-givers worldwide. Today, it is one of the nation’s leading lifestage media and services companies.

September 2008 
 John Mueller named Chief Financial Officer of The Knot Inc.
August 2008 TheBump.com launches and an inaugural issue of The Bump magazine from The Knot is published.
May 2008 Carol Koh Evans named Chief Operating Officer of The Knot Inc.
May 2008 The Nest Baby Registry Search Engine launches providing new parents and gift-givers one-stop access to registries at top baby retailers, including Pottery Barn Kids, Land of Nod, Baby Universe, and RightStart.
February 2008 Nic Di Iorio named Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Technology Group of The Knot Inc.
February 2008 The Knot Inc. acquires The Bump Media Inc., publisher of The Bump local magazines and website dedicated to pregnancy and first-time parents.

September 2007 TheNestBaby.com and WeddingChannel.com seal content syndication deals with McClatchy-Tribune, extending the current partnership with The Nest.
August 2007 The Knot Inc. launches BridesDecide.com, a bipartisan site designed to encourage engaged women and recent brides to get engaged in the 2008 election; first-ever joint venture of TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com.
June 2007 Denise Favorule named Senior Vice President, Group Publisher of The Knot Inc.
May 2007 TheNestBaby.com launches with hip advice for first-time parents and local reviews powered by LilaGuide.com.
May 2007 The Knot Inc. unveils The Knot Best of Weddings magazine, a by-brides-for-brides guide to the top 1,500 wedding professionals and venues in 40 US cities based on a survey of 25,000 recently married members.
April 2007 The Knot and Macy’s launch The Lifestyle Registry on TheKnot.com.
March 2007 The Knot Inc. launches LilaGuide.com, a hub for real-parent reviews of baby stores, services, and gear; the site goes live with 32,000 listings and over 120,000 reviews in 5,000 neighborhoods.

2006

October 2006 The Nest Newlywed Handbook: An Owner’s Manual to Modern Marriage debuts on bookshelves nationwide.
October 2006 The Knot Inc. appoints 3 new members to its board of directors: Eileen Naughton, Regional Director of Google (former president of the TIME Group and TIME Interactive); Ira Carlin, Chairman-International of MAGNA Global Worldwide (former Chairman and CEO of Universal McCann); and Peter Sachse, Chairman and CEO of Macys.com.
September 2006 The Knot Inc. completes its acquisition of WeddingChannel, Inc., securing a 90% market share of the online wedding planning industry.
August 2006 The Knot Inc. completes a secondary public offering on the NASDAQ; $114 million of stock is sold.
August 2006 The Nest magazine premieres in 400,000 newlyweds' mailboxes nationwide.
August 2006 The Knot Inc. launches PartySpot.com, the definitive online resource for planning parties from bar mitzvahs to baby showers.
July 2006 The Knot Inc. completes a $50.2 million common stock private placement.
July 2006 The Knot Inc. acquires LilaGuide Inc., the publisher of a leading for-parents-by-parents local guidebook series published in 23 US cities; takes its first step into the lucrative baby market.
June 2006 The Knot Inc. and WeddingChannel, Inc., enter into a definitive merger agreement.
June 2006 The Nest enters into a content syndication agreement with McClatchy-Tribune Information Services (formerly Knight Ridder/Tribune Information Services); extends The Nest to a network of more than 600 newspapers worldwide.
May 2006 The Knot Inc. signs a multibook publishing deal with Clarkson Potter for The Knot and The Nest brands.
May 2006 MSN Video names The Knot the portal’s premier wedding video content provider.
May 2006 The Knot Inc. acquires Wed-O-Rama.com and WeddingTracker.com, personal wedding web page builder services.
April 2006 The Knot and Travel & Leisure publish cobranded luxury destination wedding and honeymoon guide, Travel & Romance magazine; launch Travel-Romance.com.
April 2006 The Knot partners with Gifts.com; adds Gifts.com “Registry Finder” service to TheKnot.com to help guests buy gifts from a roster of the country’s leading retailers.
March 2006 TheKnot.com reaches its 7-millionth member milestone.
March 2006 The Knot and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts unite to host The Wedding Event, a series of exclusive luxury interactive bridal events in New York, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, and Washington, DC.

2005

December 2005 The Knot and American Express launch 2 co-brand, fee-free consumer credit cards: The Knot Credit Card from American Express (for couples planning their weddings) and The Nest Credit Card from American Express (for newlyweds).
June 2005 The Knot Inc. relaunches GreatBoyfriends.com with a fresh, new brand applied to its referral-based dating strategy.
May 2005 The Knot teams with Sony Classical to produce “The Knot Collection of Ceremony & Wedding Music,” the ultimate ceremony CD and playlist.
April 2005 The Knot Inc. names Target Club Wedd, the nation’s largest gift registry, a premier gift provider to The Knot Gift Registry Center; adds thousands of products to its shopping area -- from bedding and bath to iPods and flat-screen TVs -- and extends The Knot brand to Target stores.
March 2005 The Knot Inc. stock is relisted on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol KNOT.
March 2005 The Knot TV, the first all-weddings, all-the-time broadcast channel, launches on TheKnot.com; The New York Times recognizes The Knot as one of the web’s very first companies to launch a true broadcast television channel on the Internet.
March 2005 TheNest.com debuts nationally on ABC’s The View.

November 2004 The Knot Inc. adds luxury retailer Michael C. Fina, premier provider of china, crystal, and silver, to The Knot Gift Registry Center.
August 2004 The Knot and Comcast Digital Cable launch “The Knot Weddings” video-on-demand service, the first all-weddings TV channel.
June 2004 The Knot relaunches regional publications as The Knot weddings magazine series; consolidates markets to 18 key US regions and cities.
April 2004 TheKnot.com achieves its 5-millionth member milestone.
